• Recent Ribbon Cuttings and Ground Breaking

  • Representatives of Spartan Transportation and South Plains Community Action Association were on hand for the ground breaking of the new multi-million dollar Spartan facility in Levelland on Wednesday.

    The building is funded through the Texas Department of Transportation and will be the first facility of its kind in the State of Texas.  Spartan Transportation is a community based transportation entity providing Rural areas with public transportation.  Spartan Transportation provides services in 17 counties in this area.  They provide commuter services for people working in neighboring counties as well as students at South Plains College in Lubbock and Levelland.  They also provide public transportation in the area.  They also will be adding a Greyhound Bus Stop at the facility and in the future hope to become a freight drop off location as well.

    The new facility will be provide a new training facility for new drivers as well as current drivers, operations for the transportation services and administrative offices.  Phase I of the project will amount to $2.5 million dollars in new construction while Phase II of the project will be $6.3 million dollars in new construction.  Phase I will be built next to the current facility on Highway 114 while Phase II will be constructed where the current building is located.  Phase I is expected to be complete by the end of 2018 while Phase II will be completed by early 2020.
